Is it legal?
Homeschooling is legal in all 50 states and many countries around the world.
In the United States, the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), working with state organizations, has been a champion of securing and maintaining the freedom to homeschool. They also are working to secure these freedoms in other nations.
Many U.S. states still regulate homeschooling, despite statistics that show this is unnecessary. In fact, homeschooled students from totally unregulated states and those from highly regulated states show equally high achievement as measured by test scores. (Click HERE to view a study from the National Home Education Research Institute that documents this.) The battle for complete freedom from the unnecessary government regulation continues, but in the meantime, families need to know the laws of their respective states.
